Law enforcement in Washington, D.C. has conducted over 1,000 arrests as President Donald Trump works towards transforming the capital for both residents and visitors.
In a social media update on Monday, Attorney General Pam Bondy noted the outcomes from the president’s aggressive crime initiatives.
“We’ve made more than 1,000 arrests and confiscated over 100 illegal firearms. Additionally, there are 86 more arrests, including several suspects linked to assaults on law enforcement and the National Guard last night, alongside members of the Tren de Aragua gang.”
Responses on social media came swiftly after a post by Bondy, with one user writing, “Thanks for keeping D.C. safe! I’ve had to rely on car service just to navigate the streets, feeling unsafe walking.”
Another user commented with enthusiasm, “Hello! Just let me grasp how dangerous things have become!” Someone else chimed in with gratitude, “Thank you! I just wanted a government that had my back.”
On August 11, Trump declared that he was “officially invoking Section 740 of the District of Columbia Family Rules Act” and placed the D.C. Metropolitan Police under federal oversight. The report indicated he is enhancing the National Guard’s capabilities and backing their operations.
According to Breitbart News, on Thursday, President Trump provided meals to the police and National Guard. He remarked that while the burgers were made at the White House, he didn’t disclose where the pizza came from.
“We have some fun, we celebrate, and then we get back to dealing with these criminals,” he shared.
Since Trump took measures to federalize the city’s police, D.C. has seen a notable drop in crime, as reported by Breitbart News on Friday.
“According to data from the Metropolitan Police Department analyzed by Breitbart News, various crime categories have shown a significant double-digit percentage decrease over the past 11 days compared to the previous period,” the report stated.
