DNC Event Turns Sermon into Political Call to Action
At a Democratic National Committee (DNC) gathering on Monday, Pastor Jen Roma’s address, which many anticipated would center on faith, shifted into a political discussion focusing on themes of “justice,” “joy,” and community responsibilities.
During the summer meeting, instead of referencing the Bible or spiritual teachings, Roma emphasized progressive ideals. She declared that individuals should aspire for “justice and joy for all and for creation.”
Roma encouraged attendees to embrace “equality, dignity, and compassion for all.” She acknowledged that while they might encounter “complex conversations” and “hard decisions,” their primary obligation remains to “act lovingly.”
“It’s really about being a neighbor,” she shared. “I acknowledge my own biases and experiences, and it’s essential for you to engage in difficult dialogues while prioritizing love for your neighbor.”
She posed a thought-provoking question: “What will you do to care for your neighbor, your state, your country, and the planet?” This, she suggested, is a reflection of both God’s essence and our shared humanity.
As the DNC continued its summer meeting, party officials addressed pressing matters of “land approval” before transitioning to other business. Meanwhile, recent polling indicated only 19% approval for Democratic Congressional leaders, illustrating ongoing internal strife and fundraising challenges within the party.
