DNC Has Spent More Than $15 Million on Kamala Harris's Campaign Costs

Recent reports suggest that following the 2024 presidential election, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) has expended over $15 million to cover the expenses of former Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign.

In the first half of 2025, the DNC allocated more than $15 million to settle Harris’s campaign costs.

This comes after the Republican National Committee (RNC) reportedly had around $80 million available at the end of June, while the DNC’s resources were significantly lower, standing at $15 million.

As the DNC continues this financial support for Harris’ campaign, tensions seem to be rising among Democrats, who have started to blame one another. There have been calls for Harris and her team to step up fundraising efforts and reach out to more donors.

• Some donors and senior party members are frustrated that Harris’ campaign managed to spend an extraordinary $1.5 billion during a brief 15-week period, ultimately losing in all seven swing states.

• This dissatisfaction has made some donors hesitant to contribute additional funds to the DNC, especially as the party looks ahead to the mid-2026 elections.

There are reports regarding a private agreement between the Harris campaign and the DNC, which indicated that the DNC would cover unresolved bills from the 2024 campaign to allow Harris to assert that she finished without debt.

In exchange, Harris is expected to raise funds to address all remaining expenses, with this arrangement reportedly backed by disclosures from the Federal Election Commission.

According to sources, the arrangement included the DNC covering outstanding campaign bills while Harris worked to help the party financially as she navigated through the challenges of a second Trump era.

Meanwhile, small donors have faced numerous email solicitations from the Harris campaign this year, without being informed that those funds would primarily go towards settling remaining bills. It can be tough when donors feel pressured to contribute, regardless of how big or small.

Federal records indicate that the DNC has taken on approximately $20 million in post-election bills for Harris’s campaign.

While Harris’s presidential campaign reportedly raised over $1 billion, it only managed to decrease its debt by $20 million in the final week.
