Cardi B Faces Lawsuit from Security Guard
Cardi B is currently dealing with a civil lawsuit filed by a female security guard over an incident that occurred in 2018. This allegation surfaced during a trial in Los Angeles on Monday.
Emmani Ellis, the security guard, testified that Cardi B, who was four months pregnant at the time, allegedly spat on her, used a racial slur, and scratched her face with her nails.
According to Ellis, she confronted Cardi over the phone while in the obstetrician’s office. The rapper was reportedly upset, thinking that Ellis wanted to speak with her in person.
During her testimony, Ellis described an encounter where she tried to take a picture of Cardi but was met with hostility. “After hearing her say her name, she turns around and says… ‘Why do you tell people you’re looking at me?'” Ellis recounted. She stated that she attempted to calm Cardi, assuring her that she hadn’t informed anyone of her presence, but Cardi was still very angry.
Ellis alleged that Cardi threatened her job, calling her performance a “physical embarrassment,” and even hurled insults at her. She shared that, at one point, Cardi swung at her but did not land the blow.
Moreover, Ellis claims that she will need plastic surgery for a cut on her face caused by Cardi’s long nails. She is suing for assault and battery in connection with this incident.
Attempts to reach out to Cardi’s representative for comment did not receive an immediate response.
Throughout her court appearance, Cardi donned a black blazer and kept a composed demeanor, sitting with her legal team as Ellis shared her account. This isn’t Cardi’s first brush with legal issues; she previously turned herself in to police in late 2018 over a different conflict at a strip club. Additionally, she faced assault accusations in 2023 after an incident during a performance in Las Vegas.
