When Travis Kelce sought Scott Swift’s blessing to marry his daughter, he didn’t hold back.
In a recent episode of a podcast, Ed Kelce, father of the NFL player, recounted how Scott Swift told Travis to “Get it done,” alluding to the engagement.
“It’s kind of funny—I was chatting with Scott, and Travis was getting ready to ask him for permission,” the 74-year-old shared. “That happened about a month ago.”
Scott reportedly asked, “When are you going to get this done?” It seems Travis had been planning something special before his trip to Brazil.
In fact, I think I said what Scott did: it’s possible to propose just about anywhere, but some moments are meant to be memorable.
The three-time Super Bowl champion popped the question to the 14-time Grammy winner at an estate in Leewood, Kansas.
Ed also disclosed in an interview that the proposal took place nearly two weeks prior, adding a little more context to the timing.
Travis and Taylor began dating back in 2023, and they recently shared their engagement news on Instagram with a series of photos amidst a lovely setting of pink and white flowers.
In their joint post, they joked, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are married,” set to a catchy track that reminisces about high school days.
Travis presented Taylor with an intricately designed rectangular diamond ring, crafted with the help of some skilled jewelers.
Interestingly, Ed mentioned that while Travis didn’t consult him for advice, he did share a picture of the engagement ring afterward.
“Honestly, I think it’s wonderful. They look so in love, and I’ve never seen them happier,” Ed expressed. “He didn’t need my input. He knew what he was doing.”
