Vanity FairThe new global editorial director has brought an intriguing idea to the forefront, suggesting that First Lady Melania Trump could be featured on the magazine’s cover. This proposal has sparked discussions among the magazine’s staff, with calls to “threaten them out of the mother-foot door.”
Mark Guiducci, who took the creative reins of the magazine in June, is reportedly considering reaching out to the First Lady for a cover appearance, as noted in a recent publication.
Interestingly, the magazine’s parent company, Condé Nast, previously dismissed the idea. During Donald Trump’s first presidential term, Melania herself expressed a lack of interest in magazine cover features.
Noteworthy – Melania’s recent letter to Putin regarding the war:
Some staff at Vanity Fair have voiced their concerns over the potential cover. One editor mentioned a strong feeling among the staff, saying, “I’d walk out the door and half my team would follow me.” An anonymous employee stated, “We will not normalize this tyranny and his wife. We’re committed to making the right choice.”
Another employee remarked, “If it comes to bagging groceries at Trader Joe’s, I could do that. [Guiducci] puts Melania on the cover, and I assure you, many in the editorial staff would resign.” Meanwhile, other staff members challenge the credibility of those issuing such threats, arguing it’s just “talk.”
Looking back – Comparing White House Christmas celebrations:
One unidentified staff member expressed, “If she makes the cover, there will be protests, but people won’t just abandon their prestigious positions.” They continued, “Of course, opinions differ, but ultimately, it’s Mark’s choice—he’s the one who has to deal with the consequences.”
Last December, Melania commented in an interview, saying, “I don’t believe anyone’s life will change if I’m on a magazine cover.”
