California Governor Responds to School Shooting
Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom of California has quickly responded to the tragic mass shooting at a Catholic school in Minneapolis, using it as an opportunity to criticize Republicans.
According to reports, the incident on Wednesday resulted in the deaths of two children and injured 17 others. The shooting took place at a Minneapolis Catholic School, where the gunman, identified as Robin Westman, targeted students while they were at church. The assailant posted disturbing videos on YouTube prior to the attack, including a handwritten manifesto that expressed violent intentions.
Despite Minnesota’s stricter gun control measures, Newsom did not hesitate to blame Republican policies, stating on social media, “We can’t even pass the first week of school without a mass shooting. While our kids are shot, they definitely don’t do anything. This is a disease.”
His comments drew criticism from several social media users who accused him of exploiting the tragedy for political gain.
One user remarked, “It’s sickening when a governor tries to score political points from absolute tragedy in another state. This shows he prioritizes politics over people.” Another added, “It’s disturbing that you wait to find out the number of victims before you shift the focus to politicizing these murders.”
