Oman Launches Golden Residency Program to Attract Foreign Investment

Countries worldwide are vying for foreign investors by offering “golden” visas, and Oman has recently joined this trend. It’s interesting, really. Many affluent Americans are looking abroad for homes, driven by both financial needs and personal safety considerations.

Under its new program, Oman invites foreign investors to spend approximately $520,000 in assets or businesses, allowing them to expand their operations or workforce. Interestingly, those visiting the U.S. will be required to pay a “visa integrity fee” of $250.

This initiative was unveiled at the Sustainable Business Environment Forum, emphasizing Oman’s commitment to fostering private sector growth.

Those who secure the visa will gain expedited airport services and will have opportunities to invest in areas previously restricted to non-Omani ownership. “The Golden Residency is more than just a permit; it reflects Omani’s dedication to creating a balanced environment filled with opportunity, stability, and quality of life,” shared Nasima Bint Yahiya Al Barshi from the Forum’s Investor Services Centre.

Mohamed Bennis, who works with Arton Capital in Canada, noted that people are increasingly realizing that “true wealth” often comes from the ability to travel freely. Many Americans, he adds, see a second residence or citizenship as an essential safety net amidst uncertainty. This option affords them greater mobility and security in today’s unpredictable landscape.

Bennis also mentioned that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has become a favored destination for Americans seeking residency and citizenship through investment. “The Middle East is changing, evolving beyond just temporary stays and select opportunities for a few. With Oman entering the scene, it illustrates a confidence in becoming a mainstream choice for expatriates,” he remarked.

Oman’s move to create a Golden Visa program was, perhaps, inevitable. There’s been a noticeable rise in demand from U.S. clients looking for such options in the region. Golden visas, according to Bennis, open doors not only through financial means but also by promising freedom of movement and security for families, alongside global opportunities.

He concluded, “For anyone considering a second residency, whether for business, family, or lifestyle reasons, it provides a sense of security and flexibility in these uncertain times.” This initiative doesn’t just enhance competition in the region; it signifies the Gulf’s readiness for openness and long-term international integration.
