Bill Belichick revisited his familiar strategies ahead of his first game at UNC

Bill Belichick did what was expected as he prepared for his inaugural game with UNC’s football team.

Nothing.

Absolutely nothing.

The renowned stoic coach slipped back into his familiar ways as the Tar Heels were set to kick off the season against TCU in Chapel Hill.

The depth chart shared with the media featured players listed with zero under every position.

When ESPN’s Holly Rowe casually mentioned that it had been 34 years since his first NFL game, it became clear that getting anything meaningful from him was going to be a challenge.

“I hope it’s better than my 1991 game against Dallas when we lost 26-14 with the Browns. They really dominated us,” Belichick remarked.

And when asked how he anticipated translating practice into actual gameplay?

“Hopefully, we can execute well with the basics like ball security and communication,” he replied, maintaining his trademark expressionless demeanor.

So what made him crack a bit?

Rose asked him about his famous hoodie and game-day attire.

“Yeah, that’s just part of who I am,” Belichick acknowledged.

But it wasn’t just about the legendary coach or the impressive crowd, including 24-year-old Jordon Hudson, NBA icon Michael Jordan, NFL greats Lawrence Taylor and Randy Moss, among others.

The game began well, highlighted by Caleb Hood scoring an 8-yard run during the first drive under Belichick’s leadership, leading to a 20-7 halftime score in favor of the Tar Heels.

And how did the coach react to the touchdown?

Well, he simply stood with his arms crossed.
