Mother Arrested After Leaving Toddler in Hot Car
In Frisco, Texas, police responded to a hospital on August 16 and discovered that a 27-year-old mother had arrived at her job around 2 PM that day. Investigators believe she knowingly left her 15-month-old child in a car without air conditioning for over two hours, even though temperatures outside reached at least 95 degrees.
Authorities indicated that there was substantial evidence pointing to murder charges against Vanessa Esquibel. They stated that her actions directly caused the child’s death, fulfilling the legal criteria for murder.
Esquibel’s bail has been set at $250,000. Investigators issued a warrant for her arrest, and she was taken into custody on August 20 by Dallas police before being transferred to Frisco authorities the same day.
Later updates reported that she was moved to Colin County Jail and charged with murder—a first-degree felony that carries a minimum sentence of five years in prison and potential fines up to $10,000.
Notable Case: A recent similar case involved a child’s death in Alabama after being left in a car that could have reached 140 degrees.
Esquibel’s legal representation has changed; a Dallas attorney has confirmed their involvement but, for now, has refrained from commenting on the case.
Police have urged anyone with additional information regarding this incident to reach out to the Frisco Police Department using their non-emergency contact number or via TIP411.
