Sanjay Gupta Shuts Down Trump Health Conspiracy Theories

Dr. Sanjay Gupta Addresses Trump’s Health Speculations

On Tuesday, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, CNN’s Chief Medical Correspondent, dismissed the conspiracy theories surrounding President Donald Trump’s health. He emphasized that Trump’s medical team has been transparent about his condition.

Recent claims, particularly from a left-leaning social media platform, suggested that Trump might have encountered serious health issues or even died after a marathon cabinet meeting. During an appearance on “Anderson Cooper 360,” Gupta pointed out that one of the medications Trump is taking could account for the visible bruises on his hands.

“What do you think about the president’s health here?” asked CNN host Anderson Cooper. “There’s a lot of speculation. Not much clarity, really. He was seen today, conducted a lengthy press conference. It seems the issues pertain to this hand bruising and some swelling around the ankle.”

Gupta elaborated, saying they consulted numerous doctors regarding these concerns. Trump’s physician mentioned that the ankle swelling stems from a condition known as chronic venous insufficiency. Gupta explained that this can occur as people age. Bruises, noted Gupta, might be alarming, particularly since it was a significant one, but due to medication like aspirin—which thins the blood—such occurrences can happen, especially in older individuals where skin elasticity is reduced.

Furthermore, White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt previously disclosed that Trump had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), a common issue among older adults.

There were rumors about Trump’s health after he retreated from the public eye at the end of August, but he was later spotted golfing on Labor Day with his granddaughter. It’s worth noting that Trump also faced two assassination attempts during the run-up to the 2024 presidential election.

The president underwent a physical at Walter Reed National Medical Center on April 11, overseen by U.S. Navy Colonel Shawn P. Barbabella, with details made public shortly after.

Concerns about health have been present since the Biden administration began, with reports suggesting that then-President Joe Biden was somewhat isolated, particularly as his health seemed to decline. An article from the Wall Street Journal, published on December 19, 2024, highlighted these issues.

In the public discourse, Biden’s decision to step back from the presidential race generated pushback, illustrating the ongoing scrutiny of health and capability among leaders.
