Tom Homan Describes How the Biden Administration Complicated the Search for Missing Migrant Children

Border Issues Highlighted by Former Official

Washington – Tom Homan, a former official with the White House Border Agency, has expressed concerns that the Biden administration’s lack of proper surveillance has complicated efforts to locate missing immigrant children. He spoke at the National Conservatism Conference in Washington, DC, emphasizing that many unaccompanied children have been placed with adult “sponsors” without a thorough verification process. This has created a significant challenge in tracking these children down.

According to Homan, the Biden administration has lost track of around 300,000 immigrant children, which he described as “incompetent” and one of the hardest issues he faces now. He pointed out that while individuals typically have a digital footprint—like owning a car or having a utility bill—the children do not, making it difficult to trace them. Most alarming is the lack of verification for the sponsors’ identities and addresses, leading to confusion about who is actually responsible for the children’s welfare.

“When we investigate, many of the addresses are just parking lots, grocery stores, or even churches,” Homan said, noting the difficulties in locating these supposed caretakers.

Moreover, a warning from a Department of Homeland Security inspector highlighted that children released to these sponsors may be at a higher risk of human trafficking or other forms of exploitation. Homan acknowledged that there are efforts by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) to ensure the safety of these children and to prevent them from falling victim to trafficking.

Despite the ongoing risks, Homan criticized the Biden administration for releasing children into potentially unsafe homes to mitigate public backlash against detaining them in government facilities. He indicated that proper checks were not conducted at these residences, further complicating the situation.

Despite these challenges, Homan noted that under the Trump administration, around 10,000 missing children were located. He stated, “President Trump wants to find all of them.” Homan’s remarks included a reiteration of his belief that the previous administration saved many lives, contrasting it with the current administration’s handling of the crisis.

In closing, Homan insisted on the importance of prioritizing the safety of these vulnerable children, framing the issues as urgent and deserving of public attention.
