Angel Reese directly confronts Sky and warns about taking a different path.

Angel Reese has made it clear what she wants from the Chicago Sky, expressing some uncertainty about her future with the team. Following a loss to the Sun on Wednesday night, the Sky (9-30) are nearing the end of the regular season. In an interview with the Chicago Tribune, Reese stated, “I will not settle for the same S-T this year,” referring to the team’s current standing in the WNBA.

“I’m very vocal about what we need and what I want,” she remarked. “I want to be here for my career, but if things don’t fall into place, I might need to consider other options for my own benefit. While I’m here, I’ll give my all and make the most of my time.”

At only 23, Reese is hopeful the team will make significant changes this offseason, which she has communicated to the front office. As the seventh overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, she voiced strong opinions about the current roster, emphasizing that she and Camila Cardoso are two of the team’s certainties going into 2026.

“We have to get good players. We need great players. It’s impossible for me to negotiate otherwise,” she said bluntly.

The Sky have struggled to attract top talent in recent seasons, with their most notable signing being Courtney Vandersloot, who unfortunately suffered an ACL injury early on.

Reese candidly assessed the situation regarding experienced players. “We can’t depend on Courtney’s return given her age,” she noted. “She’ll be a valuable asset, but we can’t count solely on her. We might need someone younger—someone who has competed for a championship and achieved it.”

She also raised doubts about whether Rachel Banham and Haley Van Lith could handle leading the team into the playoffs.

Van Lith and Reese played together at LSU during the 2023-24 season. Reese has high hopes that head coach Tyler Marsh will push the team even harder moving forward.

Marsh acknowledged being aware of Reese’s comments and indicated that the team will address the issues internally. Reports suggest that the entire team has reacted negatively to her statements, prompting scheduled meetings to directly discuss her remarks.
