Trump considering revoking Rosie O’Donnell's US citizenship

Trump’s Remarks on Rosie O’Donnell’s Citizenship

President Donald Trump mentioned on Wednesday that he is contemplating the idea of revoking the US citizenship of actress and comedian Rosie O’Donnell.

“As I’ve stated before, we’re seriously looking into taking away Rosie O’Donnell’s citizenship. She’s not a great American and, honestly, I think she shouldn’t have it!” Trump expressed, according to true society.

This isn’t the first time Trump has suggested something like this. In months prior, he referred to her as a “threat to humanity,” mentioning in July that he was thinking about revoking her citizenship, claiming it wasn’t in the best interests of the country.

O’Donnell responded to these comments in July by referencing a character from “Game of Thrones,” saying, “Go ahead and try, King Joffrey, with a Tangerine Spray Tan.”

Legally, the president can’t strip citizenship from anyone born in the United States, as outlined in the Constitution.

The 14th Amendment secures citizenship for those born on US soil, and O’Donnell hails from Comac, New York.

Earlier this year, O’Donnell, who has Irish ancestry, moved to Ireland with her daughter, aiming to secure Irish citizenship and become a dual citizen. She pointed to the current political climate as a factor in her decision. “When it’s safe for all citizens to have equal rights in America, that’s when we’ll think about coming back,” she shared on TikTok.

In a March exchange at the White House, when the Irish Prime Minister was asked about O’Donnell’s relocation, Trump interjected, saying it might be better if people didn’t know who she was.

“Do you know who she is? You better not know,” he remarked at that moment.

Trump’s feud with O’Donnell has spanned nearly two decades, beginning when she criticized him on “The View” in 2006 over his treatment of Miss USA winners embroiled in drug scandals and other controversies.

During a significant Republican debate in 2015, moderators questioned Trump about his derogatory remarks toward women, to which he replied, “Only Rosie O’Donnell.”

Recently, following tragic shootings at a Minneapolis Catholic school, O’Donnell posted a video asserting that the shooter was aligned with Republican and white supremacist ideologies. “What do you know? It was a white guy, a Republican, a MAGA guy. What do you know? A white supremacist,” she stated.

Later, O’Donnell took down the video and issued an apology. “I know many of you were upset by that video I posted before I left for a few days,” she said. “You’re right. I didn’t do my homework on that emotional statement about the shooter.”

“I assumed, like just about everyone else does, that shooters follow a pattern. But, you know, when emotions get the best of you, mistakes happen. This is my apology video, and, well, I think that’s enough.”
