Eagles Celebrate Super Bowl Win as 2025 Season Begins
Brian Westbrook, a legend of the Philadelphia Eagles, remarked that head coach Nick Sirianni didn’t see the Super Bowl banner rise at Lincoln Financial Field during the NFL’s kickoff against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday night. Westbrook expressed admiration for this mindset.
Philadelphia marked the reveal of its second Super Bowl banner during the opening of the 2025 NFL season, but the Eagles are already focused on clinching another Vince Lombardi Trophy. There’s a palpable excitement around the team.
On Wednesday, Westbrook collaborated with USAA at the NFL kickoff event and later shared insights with Fox News Digital while presenting a new car to a deserving military member. During this, he touched on the Eagles’ mentality heading into 2025.
“What stands out to me about this team this offseason is their approach,” he stated. “They defeated the reigning champions. But they aren’t gloating; they’ve maintained a serious mindset. It’s not about victory laps but about preparation.”
He highlighted that the team’s focus has been on training and gearing up for the new season, rather than dwelling on past successes. Most of this can be attributed to Jalen Hurts’ leadership, according to Westbrook.
“Jalen carries a chip on his shoulder,” he noted, adding that even after being named Super Bowl MVP, doubt still lingers around him. He compared Hurts to his own experiences in the game.
Westbrook also acknowledged the significance of Saquon Barkley’s role on the team. Recently acquired, Barkley has already made waves in the league. According to Westbrook, Barkley’s selflessness and willingness to contribute in any way needed is invaluable.
“Saquon is among the best teammates you could ask for,” Westbrook said. “He realizes that whether it’s blocking or carrying the ball, he’s all in.”
No doubt, the Eagles have a solid foundation. Recently, there’s been chatter about the potential for them to become a dynasty, especially if they find continued success. Westbrook responded cautiously about that label, emphasizing that back-to-back wins are crucial before calling a team a dynasty.
“I hesitate to use the word dynasty,” he said. “You really need to win consecutively to earn that distinction. The talent is there, and they have the potential, but it’s essential to follow through.”
Earlier in the evening, Westbrook was on hand to present a refurbished vehicle to Airforce member Keskell Yatrofsky, courtesy of a charitable initiative. “These moments remind me of what really matters,” he reflected. “It’s about giving back and lifting others.”
Seeing Yatrofsky’s joy was something special for Westbrook; it made the day all the more meaningful. The Eagles and their fans have much to look forward to this season.
