Biden Undergoes Surgery for Skin Cancer
Former President Joe Biden recently had surgery to address skin cancer, a revelation sparked by images and videos showing what appeared to be a large wound on his head.
A spokesperson for Biden confirmed that he underwent MOHS surgery, although the specific type of skin cancer has not been disclosed.
A video posted on Thursday showed Biden leaving a church in Rehoboth Beach during Labor Day weekend, appearing to have sustained an injury to his head. In the footage, he looked somewhat frail while greeting attendees after the service.
Just a day earlier, he was spotted at a local ice cream shop wearing a baseball cap, presumably to cover his injuries.
In late August, when attending the funeral of former Delaware Governor and U.S. Representative Mike Castle, Biden was seen with a large bandage on his head.
MOHS surgery involves the removal and examination of thin layers of cancerous tissue until it is confirmed that no abnormal cells remain.
Earlier this year, former First Lady Jill Biden had a similar procedure to remove multiple lesions, including some located above her right eye.
The ongoing health challenges for Biden have been notable. In May, it was revealed that he had been diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer that had spread to his bones. He shared on social media at that time that “Cancer touches us all,” expressing that he and Jill had learned strength through adversity.
Medical professionals have classified his prostate cancer as highly aggressive, rating it with a Gleason score of 9, which is considered the most severe classification. Just last year, he had basal cell carcinoma removed from his chest and was declared cancer-free after treatment but continues to receive follow-up care.
