Arizona Man Convicted for Murdering Girlfriend and Dog

An Arizona man has been found guilty of killing his girlfriend and her dog. During a FaceTime call, he allegedly expressed regret, stating, “I killed her! I did it!” while lying next to the victim’s body.

Taton Dorfman, 29, was arrested on July 28, 2024, after the tragic incident involving 30-year-old Hannah Rogers at a home in Marana, about 20 miles northwest of Tucson, according to court documents.

This week, a jury convicted Dorfman of second-degree murder, and he could face a sentence of up to 25 years. A sentencing date is set for next month.

Investigators noted that during the FaceTime call, Dorfman was seen lying in bed next to Rogers’ bloody body. He admitted to shooting her, also confirming that her dog was dead.

The person on the call quickly took a screenshot and alerted the police, which led to a tense standoff involving the Pima County SWAT team that lasted through the night.

When the police arrived at the residence on Westmosquito Drive, Dorfman reiterated his confession, telling negotiators he intended to take his own life as well.

He surrendered around 3:30 AM, emerging from the house with blood on his hands and face, but without any injuries.

Upon entering the home, officers discovered Rogers with a fatal gunshot wound to the head and a dog that had also been shot. They found a handgun lying on the floor at the foot of the bed.

Additionally, investigators reported discovering “a large amount of alcohol and drug paraphernalia” scattered about the residence.

A friend remembered Rogers as “a beautiful, clever and funny woman” who could “light up the room with her smile,” echoed in a GoFundMe campaign set up after her passing.

The horrifying nature of the incident has left the Tucson community reeling, not just from the violence but from the alarming choice of the murderer to flaunt the act during a live call.

The post has reached out for comments from the Pima County Sheriff’s Office and the Marana Police Department.
