Taylor Swift misses fiancé Travis Kelce's Chiefs game in Brazil

Taylor Swift didn’t make an appearance in São Paulo to support her fiancé, Travis Kelce.

She skipped the season opener between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Querce on Friday.

According to reports, it wasn’t surprising that Swift wasn’t there, as it would have been quite the trek—over 13 hours—just to back the team.

Representatives for Swift didn’t reply to inquiries for comments.

Friday’s game at the Corrington Arena marked Kelce’s first performance since rumors about his resignation circulated.

The Chiefs were selected to play in Brazil as part of the NFL’s initiative to expand its international presence.

Commissioner Roger Goodell mentioned previously that “being a global sport is a major strategic priority for the league and for the 32 teams.”

He added that by boosting the number of international games, the league hopes to enhance its global reach and connect with more fans around the world.

Although Swift didn’t attend, she has had her experiences in South America. Back in November 2023, she performed multiple shows during her tour in the country, despite facing extreme weather. Sadly, one fan passed away from heat exhaustion during that time.

Kelce, aged 35, discussed some hurdles his team faced leading up to the game. He mentioned that the stadium was a two-hour journey from their hotel.

“It’s a unique experience, driving two hours for a game. Kind of felt like college football again,” he shared.

Still, he remained optimistic, saying it would be rewarding if they could win, considering the unusual schedule and setting. “If we said we weren’t excited to be in Brazil, that would be a lie,” he added.

There was uncertainty about whether Swift would show up until the game day. However, sources had previously indicated that she planned to support Kelce in as many games as possible this season.

This match came shortly after Swift made headlines following her engagement announcement with Kelce.

Notably, she flew out to Nashville to celebrate Brittany Mahomes’ 30th birthday and earlier attended a college football game at Arrowhead Stadium to back Kelce’s alma mater.

This Brazilian match marked one of the first public sightings of Kelce since his engagement news broke. The NFL star proposed after a couple of years of dating Swift.

Reports indicate that they decided to wrap up several milestones before sharing their happy news with the public.

Swift and Kelce confirmed their relationship milestone on Instagram on August 26, merging the words of English and gym teachers into their celebratory announcement.
