Murder Investigation at Burning Man Festival Continues
The murder of a 37-year-old Russian man at the Burning Man Festival has left authorities puzzled, with the investigation showing little progress, as noted by law enforcement officials. Vadim Kruglov’s tragic death occurred on August 30, yet the police have not yet been able to identify a suspect.
Details surrounding the incident indicate that it happened between 8 PM and 9:30 PM, coinciding with the dramatic burn of the festival’s iconic wooden sculpture, known as Zaman, which typically draws a huge crowd. Investigators from Pershing County expressed frustration over the lack of new leads as they continue to seek information related to the case.
Deputies discovered Kruglov’s body in a tent, where he was found “lying in a pool of blood.” This incident has cast a shadow over the annual festival, which celebrates community and self-expression in the Nevada desert.
The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner confirmed Kruglov’s identity using fingerprint analysis. According to a friend’s social media post, Kruglov hailed from Siberia and had settled in Washington State.
In a concerning anecdote, a woman claimed she had seen Kruglov’s situation before alerting authorities. She described how, while leaving Black Rock City with her partner, they encountered an older woman who mentioned that “the man in her tent might be bleeding.” Despite being urged to check on him, the woman expressed reluctance to approach his body.
As law enforcement continues to view the incident as a homicide, the Sheriff’s Office has called for information regarding potential suspects. Kruglov’s father, Igor, released a heartfelt message from Russia, voicing his sorrow and calling for justice. “Words can’t express my feelings,” he shared, emphasizing his pride in his son and hope that those responsible would face accountability.
Additionally, a GoFundMe campaign has been initiated to assist in returning Kruglov’s remains to Russia.
