California Woman Rescued After Being Lost in Forest
A woman from California, participating in a survival show on YouTube, was found after going missing for nearly 18 hours in a chilly, rainy forest this past weekend, according to officials.
The 36-year-old, whose name has not been released, vanished after leaving the designated camp area in Pigeon River Forest, located in Charlton Township, at around 5 PM on Friday while looking for water, as reported by the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office.
When she failed to return, the host of the show initiated a search of her own. About 12 hours later, around 5 AM Saturday, the sheriff’s office called for assistance via 911.
Following that, a coordinated search effort was quickly set into motion involving various agencies.
A helicopter from the Michigan State Police located the woman wandering in a swampy area of the forest at approximately 10:40 AM, with authorities noting that she had spent nearly 18 hours lost in the wet and cold conditions.
Aerial footage captured the moment she spotted the helicopter and waved at the crew.
After the helicopter team guided ground personnel to her position, she managed to walk out of the forest on her own. A medical assessment was conducted at the scene, confirming that she had not sustained serious injuries.
As of now, authorities have not identified the show or the host involved in the competition, and it’s currently uncertain if the woman plans to continue participating.
