Trump Donates Family Bible to Museum
On Monday, President Donald Trump revealed that he is donating his family’s Bible to the Bible Museum in Washington, D.C.
This decision came just before a hearing with the Religious Freedom Committee. Trump shared that the Bible, which was a gift from his mother, Mary Anne McLeod, is a cherished artifact that represents an important part of American history. He emphasized that the Bible has influenced the lives of countless individuals over thousands of years.
“For millennia, the Bible has shaped civilization, ethics, art, and literature, bringing hope and healing to millions,” he stated. “It’s a significant part of the American narrative. I personally handed over my family’s Bible some time ago, and I’m thrilled that it will now be displayed in the heart of our nation’s capital. It’s truly an honor.”
In addition to the announcement, Trump also discussed new guidance from the Ministry of Education aimed at safeguarding prayer in public schools, reiterating his commitment to uphold what he describes as “Jewish-Christian values.” He expressed concern over the promotion of gender ideology in schools and the treatment of students expressing their religious beliefs.
“To have a great nation, you need to have a religion. I believe that strongly,” he remarked. “After everything we’ve been through, there has to be something, and I think it needs to be something divine.”
The President has long been an advocate for religious freedom, having supported school prayer since his first term. In July, he enacted new guidelines that expand religious protections for federal employees, allowing for the display of religious items and group prayers outside of work hours.
Furthermore, the Department of Justice has initiated a task force to address anti-Christian bias and has started investigations in Washington state that involve requiring Catholic priests to report information disclosed during confessions related to child abuse and neglect.
