‘Every Challenge, Large or Small’: ICE Captures Small Predator in New Orleans

ICE Arrests Convicted Sexual Predator

Federal immigration officials have captured a convicted sexual offender who became an internet sensation due to his height.

On Monday, the New Orleans office of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reported the arrest of Christian Soto Galeano, a Guatemalan national. He has a conviction for indecent behavior with a juvenile and served a two-year prison sentence. The agency shared pictures of Soto Galeano in a social media update, which seemed to highlight his small stature.

“Sexual predator arrested: ICE New Orleans apprehended Christian Soto Galeano, a citizen of Guatemala,” reads the post. It emphasizes his criminal history as well.

According to the announcement, “We are prepared to face all kinds of challenges, big or small.”

This post has garnered significant attention, receiving around 3,000 retweets and approximately 1 million views. Many users responded with memes, including images that humorously dressed Soto Galeano in exaggerated outfits.

An ICE spokesperson could not immediately provide more information about Soto Galeano’s immigration status but confirmed he is in the U.S. illegally.

Since 2024, Louisiana officials have repeatedly focused on anti-sanctuary laws in line with a push for stricter enforcement, which includes a new partnership with federal immigration agencies. Governor Jeff Landry, along with Homeland Security Secretary Christa Noem, recently announced the opening of a facility in early September aimed at enhancing detention capabilities.

“Crime, illegal aliens should take notice: Louisiana Lockup is where time in the U.S. ends,” Landry stated. A new center is being constructed in St. Francisville, which aims to align with safety measures promoted during President Trump’s administration.
