Stephen Jones addresses Micah Parsons trade rumors following Packers debut

Mika Parsons Shines in Packers Debut Against Lions

Mika Parsons had an impressive start with the Green Bay Packers, helping them beat the Detroit Lions 27-13 in his first game of the season. This victory marked a significant moment for him, as he made his presence felt on the field.

Stephen Jones, the CEO of the Cowboys and the son of owner Jerry Jones, addressed fans’ concerns regarding reports from Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer. Glazer indicated that the Philadelphia Eagles, the Cowboys’ division rivals who lost in their first game, had made a more enticing trade offer for Parsons. However, Jones quickly dismissed these claims, focusing instead on the future of the Cowboys and making it clear that what happened in the past is behind them.

“It’s all in the rearview mirror,” Jones said. “What we’re concentrated on is what’s next for the team, particularly for Kenny Clark and the Dallas Cowboys.”

Despite the rumors, Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer praised Parsons’ performance against the Lions. “He seemed to be enjoying himself out there, which is great to see,” Schottenheimer shared, emphasizing Parsons’ energy on the field. The atmosphere at Lambeau Field was unforgettable for Parsons, who referred to it as one of those experiences that truly gives you “chills.”

The Lions, who had the most potent offense in the NFL last season, found themselves limited by the Packers’ defense. New head coach Ben Johnson of the Bears struggled to establish a run game, with running backs Yummy Gibbs and David Montgomery combining for just 44 rushing yards. Although Gibbs had ten receptions, he only totaled 31 yards.

Parsons accounted for a single tackle but was impactful in pressuring Lions quarterback Jared Goff, showcasing his defensive skills on the Packers’ line.

On a different note, the Cowboys faced difficulties in stopping the run game against the Eagles, who racked up 158 rushing yards. Jalen Hurts led the team, contributing 62 yards himself. It’s clear the Cowboys have some adjustments to make, especially as they gear up for their next matchup.

Looking ahead, Jones mentioned that the Cowboys are eager for their first win of the season, with a promising opportunity arising against the struggling New York Giants this coming Sunday.
