Thieves Steal Nearly $3 Million from Missing Long Island Couple

Authorities report that two thieves have managed to steal almost $3 million from a Long Island couple who vanished from their luxurious Gold Coast mansion several months ago.

Inni Wang, 36, and Qiuju Wu, 55, have been implicated in the theft, allegedly transferring $2.8 million from an account belonging to Paishuan Fan, 48, and his wife, Jun Juan Zwang, who remain unaccounted for.

The couple, parents of two sons, was last seen on April 2, and their relatives reported them missing just two days later from their Brookville residence.

Nassau County Police have announced that they are actively investigating the case. The suspected fraudulent transactions occurred between June and August, according to federal prosecutors.

On June 30, nearly $890,000 was withdrawn from one of the couple’s accounts under suspicious circumstances, followed by another $500,000 the very next day, as detailed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York.

Further movements included $190,000 being transferred to an account linked to Wu on July 1, and then another $700,000 withdrawn through a cashier’s check from Wu’s account.

On July 2, another $860,000 was siphoned from the second victim’s bank account, which was later reduced by withdrawals amounting to $418,500.

On July 8, more than $630,000 was taken from the first victim’s account, subsequently funneled into Wu’s account, with notable subsequent transfers to an unnamed corporate entity.

Surveillance footage captured Wu at various bank branches involved in these transactions, with Wang seen only once during the activity.

Prosecutors highlighted Wang’s troubling history of alleged identity theft, citing an incident at Los Angeles International Airport in December 2023 where he was caught with multiple mobile phones and identification documents under different names.

Wu was apprehended in Texas and is currently in custody as immigration officials have detained her; her immigration status remains unclear. Wang was arrested in California on the same day but was released on bond.

The accusations against the duo have only deepened the intrigue surrounding the disappearance of Fan and Zwang.

Before they went missing, the couple had dinner with their sons and a family friend the night before the boys departed for Catskill. An attorney for the family, John Carman, was involved but did not provide comments when contacted.

Reports indicate that the couple’s children have since returned to China. “My sons appreciate law enforcement’s commitment in pursuing these clever criminals,” Carman shared.

Wu and Wang are set to face a federal court in central Islip on Thursday afternoon.
