Texas Doctor Suspension Due to Allegations
The Texas Medical Board has taken action against a family medicine doctor in Austin, suspending his license after discovering he allegedly used medical appointments for inappropriate sexual encounters with patients.
On September 3, the board issued a temporary suspension of Dr. Jared Kealy’s medical license, citing a significant threat to public welfare, effective immediately.
Dr. Kealy, through his attorney, has denied any wrongdoing.
He was associated with an Austin branch of Lone Star Circle of Care, a federally qualified health center aimed at providing healthcare to underprivileged communities, especially those lacking insurance or facing financial hardships.
According to the board’s announcement, Dr. Kealy allegedly initiated sexual relationships with two patients and used scheduled medical appointments to engage in further sexual acts with them.
Kealy’s attorney, Louis Leichter, has firmly rejected the claims. “He denies any sexual involvement with the two patients,” he stated.
Leichter also expressed concern that Dr. Kealy was not granted proper due process during his hearing. He mentioned, “It felt like they had already made a decision before we even arrived, and without hearing crucial testimony, it seemed impossible to change their minds.”
Lone Star Circle of Care released a statement through spokesperson Ashley Wild, emphasizing that they prioritize patient safety and treat allegations of professional misconduct with utmost seriousness. However, they refrained from commenting on specific patient cases.
The statement also confirmed that Dr. Jared Kealy has not provided medical services there for a significant time and is no longer employed by the organization.
When asked about the details surrounding Kealy’s departure, Wild pointed back to the initial statement.
Currently, Dr. Kealy is not listed on Lone Star Circle of Care’s website. An archived version, however, confirms his presence on the provider list as recently as July. Additionally, the location where he worked is no longer available on the site.
