Katya Kuropas is filled with pride for her fiancé, JJ McCarthy, after he secured his first career victory as the new quarterback for the Vikings in an exciting game.

Just hours after McCarthy led the Vikings to a comeback win, 27-24, against the Bears in Chicago during “Monday Night Football,” Kuropas shared her joy on Instagram, celebrating McCarthy’s impressive debut.

“What a night!!” she exclaimed on Tuesday, expressing her pride in McCarthy’s performance.

After missing his entire rookie season in 2024 due to a knee injury, McCarthy faced challenges in his debut, even throwing a pick-six early in the third quarter. However, the 22-year-old former Michigan star managed to turn things around in the fourth quarter, orchestrating three scoring drives for his team’s first victory of the season.

Coach Kevin O’Connell noted, “I felt calm from the start. The belief from the team and the units really helped. I couldn’t have done it without him in the second half.”

O’Connell, who was recognized as the NFL Coach of the Year, told McCarthy at halftime, “We’re going to bring us back to win this game.” McCarthy reflected on the support, saying, “All kind of compliments and those beliefs mean the world. It gave me the confidence to run plays and make quick decisions, and it worked.”

In his debut game, McCarthy completed 13 of 20 passes for 143 yards, along with two touchdowns and one interception.

This coming week, McCarthy can expect a warm reception from Vikings fans as the team prepares to host the Falcons on Sunday Night Football.

Since being drafted as the 10th overall pick last year, McCarthy has had the steadfast support of his high school girlfriend, Kuropas. She was there cheering for him during his victory at the Michigan National Championship back in January 2024.
