ICE Arrests Suspected MS-13 Member in New York
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has apprehended a suspected member of the MS-13 gang in New York. Jamie Manual Perez Perez, 42, was taken into custody by the Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) team in Brentwood on September 3.
According to Ricky Patel, the HSI special agent in charge of New York, Perez Perez had been living in close proximity to a school, which is concerning. His past caught up with him; a red notice had been issued by Interpol regarding allegations of coercion and threats to injure others.
Perez Perez, originally from El Salvador, was first detained by Border Patrol in El Paso, Texas, back in April 2019. He received a notice to appear for a hearing and was later placed in removal proceedings; his next hearing is scheduled for February 2026.
After a traffic stop in New York, he was arrested, and he is currently in ICE custody, awaiting deportation.
Patel remarked that this MS-13 member thought he could avoid justice by hiding in the U.S. He emphasized the commitment to removing individuals who pose a threat to the community and ensuring children can attend school without fear of danger.
He also noted the ongoing challenges of addressing gang activity that impacts communities across the nation.
