FBI announces $100K reward as profiler shares insights on the potential behavior of Charlie Kirk's assassin

The person responsible for the murder of Charlie Kirk is still at large, possibly isolating themselves and lacking a solid plan for what to do next, according to FBI special agent and profiler James Clemente. In a phone interview, Clemente suggested that the shooter might have been struggling with feelings of frustration and anger, which led to this act of violence. They seemed to have a poor self-image and, well, perhaps believed that committing such an act would somehow elevate their status. This kind of behavior often stems from an inability to manage emotions in a more constructive manner, he noted.

Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed by an unidentified gunman during an event at Utah Valley University. He was a prominent figure in conservative circles, advocating for faith and freedom on college campuses through TPUSA.

The investigation has yet to yield any suspects, with the FBI and local law enforcement examining evidence to find those responsible. Clemente mentioned that the shooter may have unintentionally left clues about their intentions, possibly hinting at their plans to friends or, perhaps, posting on social media prior to the incident.

“This was likely their first act of violence,” he observed, suggesting that such individuals often tend to talk about their intentions beforehand, perhaps as a way to process their anger.

As investigators analyze security footage from the event, there are reports that police are on the lookout for individuals in black tactical gear seen near the university’s library. They recovered a significant bolt-action rifle close to the crime scene as they tracked the shooter’s escape route.

Public Safety Director Beau Mason explained that they followed the suspect’s movements from the campus stairs to the rooftop and ultimately to the shooting location. Afterward, the suspect fled the area, leaving behind a rifle.

Clemente added that the shooter likely did not have a clear plan for what to do after the attack, which is why they might have discarded the weapon nearby. He speculated that the person would exhibit unusual behavior, perhaps avoiding interactions as they try to evade capture.

The FBI has announced a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the suspect, and FBI Director Kash Patel is set to visit Utah soon. Investigators are sifting through a wealth of video footage from the event, keen to track down this individual and piece together what happened.

Kirk, 31, left behind a wife, Erika, and two young children. His body is reportedly being transported back to Arizona. The situation remains under intense scrutiny, and the hope is that there will be a quick resolution.
