Turning Point USA Reacts to Charlie Kirk’s Assassination
Turning Point USA released a statement on Thursday regarding the assassination of Charlie Kirk, describing him as the “biggest martial artist for freedom of speech” that he admired.
“All of us at Turning Point USA are deeply saddened by the horrendous act of violence against our founder, Charlie Kirk. We’ve lost not just a leader but also a friend,” the organization’s statement began.
“Above all, our hearts go out to Erica and their two children,” it continued. “Charlie was a devoted husband and an exemplary father.”
Turning Point USA also called for prayers for the Kirk family during this incomprehensible tragedy.
“Charlie truly believed in the power of debate and goodwill to uncover truths and foster mutual understanding, even with differing opinions,” they added.
In their statement, they noted, “Charlie faced numerous threats throughout his life but prioritized reaching young Americans over his personal safety.”
“Now, he has become America’s biggest martial artist for free speech,” said Turning Point USA.
The organization reflected on Charlie’s life, stating:
In his 31 years, Charlie lived more fully than many of us do in a lifetime. He had an undeniable passion for life and a strong belief in his ability to enact change. Starting Turning Point from his parents’ garage at just 18 was a testament to his pioneering spirit. His energy was infectious.
Charlie was someone who seized each day. He loved challenges and saw them as chances to learn and grow. Fundamentally decent, he sought to forge friendships and support what he had created. His values—honesty, loyalty, and fair play—are timeless in America.
“His love for America, its people, and the freedoms enshrined in its Constitution was immense, but more importantly, Charlie lived every day filled with a profound love for Christ,” Turning Point USA shared.
“When he was asked how he wanted to be remembered, he said he hoped for a spiritual revival among young Americans, more than any political achievement,” the organization pointed out.
“He envisioned a nation filled with happy, thriving families who loved God and each other,” they emphasized.
In his “final public speech just days before his death,” Kirk mentioned seeing Christ among a non-believing audience.
“Even in his last moments, Charlie shared the gospel publicly,” Turning Point USA revealed. “He finished strong; now he’s receiving his heavenly rewards.”
“Charlie may be gone, but his legacy will endure,” stated the organization. “His spirit will remain youthful and inspiring, urging countless Americans to better themselves and strive for a better country.”
Turning Point USA concluded, “We will all miss Charlie. He will never be forgotten.”
As reported, Kirk was fatally shot in what appears to be a politically motivated attack at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.
On Thursday morning, the FBI released images of “people of interest” in connection with Kirk’s assassination and requested public assistance.
