Tributes Paid to Charlie Kirk Following Tragic Death

Erica Franzbe, the widow of Charlie Kirk, clutched a rosary while waving to supporters from the back of her SUV as they escorted her husband’s body to a chapel in Arizona on Thursday evening.

Wiping away tears behind her sunglasses, the 31-year-old conservative activist was met with a crowd of people holding American flags outside the Hansen Funeral Chapel in Phoenix.

Kirk was transported to Arizona aboard Air Force 2 following his fatal shooting.

On Wednesday, a sniper took Charlie Kirk’s life with a single shot to the neck, an incident that unfolded above the Ross Center at Utah Valley University.

Vice President JD Vance arranged for the flight after Kirk’s assassination and made the choice to be alongside the grieving widow in her time of loss.

Cancelling plans to attend a 9/11 remembrance event in Manhattan, Vance chose to travel with his wife, Usha Vance, to support Kirk’s family.

At the time of the tragedy, Kirk’s wife and parents were in Utah for an event.

As they descended from Air Force 2 at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Franzbe and Usha Vance exchanged handshakes, watching as Kirk’s wooden casket was moved to a hearse for a 10-mile journey.

Earlier, Vice President Vance participated in a private ceremony to transport Kirk’s casket to Air Force 2 at a military base in Salt Lake City.

Both Franzbe and Usha Vance stood beside the casket during its placement on the aircraft.

Vance later spoke highly of Kirk, referring to him as a friend, and expressed his grief shortly after the assassination of the Turning Point USA founder.

“Charlie was always reaching out, checking in on our families and offering support,” Vance shared. “He was incredibly generous with his kindness.”

Reflecting on their earlier interactions, Vance recounted first getting to know Kirk around 2017, when he received a supportive message after appearing on a TV show.

Vance noted that Kirk was deeply engaged in discussions about ideas and demonstrated an open mind, echoing similar sentiments regarding politics and leaders.

As the day drew on, Vance highlighted how the two men had cultivated their friendship and support for one another during key moments in their lives.

Franzbe, who was crowned Miss Arizona in 2012, married Kirk in 2021, and together they had two young children.

In a separate conversation, President Trump expressed his condolences while discussing the devastating impact of Kirk’s death on his wife, emphasizing the gravity of the situation.

The president stated he would be attending Kirk’s funeral, referring to it as an obligation, and announced plans to posthumously award Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
