Former NFL player Chris Kluwe shares provocative remarks about Charlie Kirk

Controversial Comments by Former NFL Punter

This week, former NFL punter Chris Kluwe sparked controversy with his remarks about Blueski following the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Kluwe, who lost his job as a high school football coach earlier this year after labeling the Maga movement as the “Nazi” movement, dismissed claims from Senator Elizabeth Warren that the Democrats’ discourse contributed to the assassination.

Kluwe expressed frustration, stating, “Finally. Fighting against the framing that tries to take responsibility for everything. The GOP creates this social environment and could put an end to it anytime.” His earlier comments also suggested that Kirk contributed to the society he currently inhabits.

“It’s possible that both can be true: 1) Political violence isn’t an acceptable choice in a civilized society; 2) Charlie Kirk’s dream is somewhat reflected in the reality of the society he lives in,” Kluwe wrote.

After the shooting, Kluwe appeared to mock Kirk, posting, “Hahaha, yes! This rule! What f—.” His tone seemed jarring, given the gravity of the situation.

Currently, Kluwe is running for a position in the California Legislature, following his dismissal from coaching. In February, he stated that he was let go from California High School after a remark at a city council meeting about the Maga movement. “If you want to understand the impact of Maga on our community, consider that I was fired as a freshman football coach,” he mentioned. “Schools seem uninterested in hiring former NFL players for coaching roles; they just want to harm people.”

Following the incident, Kluwe mentioned to CNN that his firing was due to the attention the situation received.

In February, a manhunt was initiated after the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Kluwe was later arrested at a Huntington Beach City Council meeting, where he protested the local government’s decision to display certain plaques. He called the Maga movement a “Nazi movement,” pledging to engage in civil disobedience. This led to his arrest, as video footage captured police escorting him away.

A few days later, Kluwe remained unapologetic during an interview with CNN, stating, “We are on a path reminiscent of Nazi Germany under Hitler. I say this as someone educated in political science and history. The parallels are evident.”

Kluwe often criticized the stances of the Trump administration, particularly on issues around transgender athletes in girls’ and women’s sports. He pointed out that this administration aims to disrupt societal order for its own benefit, urging Americans to unite across party lines against this chaos.

Kluwe played for the Minnesota Vikings from 2005 to 2012.
