Pat McAfee’s Speech on Tennessee Campus

Former NFL kicker Pat McAfee shared a heartfelt message on Saturday morning, responding to the recent assassination of Charlie Kirk early in the week. Dressed in a jacket celebrating patriotism, he spoke on the Tennessee campus before an important game against No. 6 Georgia.

“Being here in this beautiful town for the past day has reminded me how great it is to be a Tennessee volunteer,” McAfee noted as he opened an episode of ESPN’s “College GameDay.”

He expressed a mix of pride and somber reflection, stating, “It’s not exactly a great day to be a Tennessee volunteer, but it truly is a great day to live in the greatest country, the United States.” He emphasized the diverse backgrounds present at the large gathering, highlighting the camaraderie among fans from various economic, political, and religious backgrounds.

McAfee continued, saying, “Today we celebrate everything that makes this country special—our love for football.” He pointed out that the locker room and the stadium are tremendous spaces for unity.

His co-host, Ray Davis, echoed this sentiment, saying football brings everyone together. McAfee ended with a positive note, adding, “We need to remember that even in tough times, it’s a privilege to be a football fan, and there’s always something wonderful about Saturdays during college football season.”
