Mika Parsons Joins the Green Bay Packers
Mika Parsons is set to don a different shade of green now.
During a visit on ESPN New York with NFL reporter Gary Myers, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones shared that there had been discussions with the Jets regarding potential trade deals for edge rushers. Ultimately, these deals were resolved with the Packers after some negotiations in Dallas.
However, Jones pointed out that the Jets were lacking the “resources” needed to make a trade happen. When Myers inquired if the Cowboys were indeed interested in Jets defensive lineman Quinnen Williams, Jones confirmed that they were.
“To be honest, we didn’t have the resources to pursue that conversation,” Jones said. “The big idea was that we needed a truly dominant defensive player to help us tackle more runs than we’ve faced over the last few years.”
Previously, Jay Glazer from Fox Sports mentioned that the Cowboys hadn’t made much progress with the AFC team.
Instead, Parsons is now firmly with the NFC, as the Cowboys secured two first-round picks along with Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark.
The two-time All-Pro has certainly made an impact in Green Bay. In a recent game, the Packers defeated the Commanders 27-18, and Parsons made quite a statement, scoring the last eight pressures in a dominant performance against second-year quarterback Jayden Daniels.
In that game, he tallied three quarterback hits, two tackles, and half a sack, helping the Packers restrict Washington to just 230 yards of total offense.
In his first two games with the team, Parsons has recorded 1.5 sacks and four quarterback hits. Following their win at Lambeau Field, fans gathered around Parsons, chanting “Thank you, Jerry!” in a celebratory moment that showcased their excitement for his arrival.
