Left-Wing Activists Interrupt Charlie Kirk Vigil with Song Inscribed on Suspected Assassin's Bullets

Protests Following Assassination of Charlie Kirk

Left-wing protesters took to social media Sunday evening, sharing a video of themselves singing a song inscribed on the bullet casing from the rifle that killed Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. This occurred during a vigil organized by the New York University College Republicans.

Kirk was tragically assassinated on Wednesday during a “Proof Me Wrong” event at Utah Valley University, where he was engaging with attendees on various topics. The NYU College Republicans posted the video on their official X account, showing the demonstrators performing the song.

The group stated, “Protesters sang a song written on the casing of the bullet that killed Charlie Kirk while marking his death at NYU tonight. They also issued threats against Ryan Leonard, president of the NYU College Republican Club. Clearly, they are not seeking peace.”

Utah Republican Governor Spencer Cox confirmed the arrest of Tyler Robinson in connection to Kirk’s assassination, mentioning that “Bella Ciao” was etched into one of the bullet casings. This song is widely recognized as a national anthem among Italian leftist groups who opposed Benito Mussolini’s regime.

Democrats have often labeled Republicans as “fascists.” In August, Democratic National Committee Chairman Ken Martin noted that the U.S. was under threat from an “inside force” that could lead to fascism. Similarly, during a CNN Town Hall in October, then-Vice President Kamala Harris referred to President Donald Trump as a “fascist,” reflecting the rising tensions as the 2024 presidential election approached.

In a separate address in September 2022, President Joe Biden characterized Trump supporters as a “threat to democracy.” This came shortly after Republicans were accused in a DNC fundraiser of embracing “semi-fascism.”
