Trans author loses significant DC Comics contract after making hateful remarks about the assassination of Charlie Kirk

A controversial author has lost a significant contract with DC Comics following her online comments celebrating the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

Gretchen Felker-Martin, known for a fantasy story tied to JK Rowling’s “Burning Death,” saw her new project canceled shortly after her posts about Kirk’s murder that occurred last Wednesday.

In a tweet, Felker-Martin remarked about their deceased fathers, saying, “You think of the Nazi b-tch and pray.”

DC Comics had initially released the first installment of Felker-Martin’s “Red Hood” series but has now decided to cancel all future orders while offering retailers a sale credit, according to reports from Cosmic Book News.

The comic publisher stated to Popverse that while they respect individual expressions of personal opinions, they cannot support posts that promote hostility or violence as it contradicts their conduct standards.

Kirk was fatally shot on July 10, 2025, during a public event at Utah State University.

Felker-Martin has also expressed a desire for violence against Rowling, claiming it was “too attractive” to be dismissed as a joke after losing her comic deal. In a Patreon post, she described following Kirk and noted disturbing details about his appearance, expressing feelings of contempt.

“I’m driven by the emotion of what I said. Kirk was evil. His cruelty may linger for years, but he can no longer harm us,” she continued, reflecting on the gravity of her comments and their implications.

Felker-Martin previously faced backlash in 2022 for writing a horror novel criticizing the inclusion of trans women in women-only spaces. She has frequently been involved in disputes over accusations of transphobia, including public confrontations with notable authors like Rowling.

In the aftermath of Kirk’s assassination, Tyler Robinson, a student who identifies as having a transgender boyfriend, has been arrested and is facing murder charges.
