Ohio Attorney General Candidate Shares 'Forget Charlie Kirk'

Elliot Forhan, the Democratic candidate for Ohio Attorney General, sparked controversy on social media by celebrating the assassination of Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA.

In a social media update, Forhan expressed, “Forget Charlie Kirk.”

He went on to say, “If you can’t label a biased person as American bias, then we really don’t have the freedom of speech he claimed to care about.”

Interestingly, Forhan didn’t back up his claims with specific examples of Kirk’s bias. Moreover, he didn’t offer any condolences to Kirk or his family regarding the tragic event.

The responses were critical.

“Your behavior is disrespectful and contributes to the decline of our political discourse. Our nation would fare better without you in a position of power. You preach against hatred but seem to promote it,” remarked one commenter.

“It’s not acceptable. You’re fostering division,” another chimed in.

One individual expressed concern over politicians holding such views, stating, “I dislike that someone in office thinks this way. Political differences shouldn’t lead to death threats.”

In a separate post, Forhan shared a piece from the New York Times that described Kirk as a “champion of tyranny, not democracy,” suggesting an unwillingness to pretend otherwise.

He also shared an article titled “Charlie Kirk’s Legacy is Not Worth Mourning.”

Forhan isn’t alone in making his stance known. California Democrat Sen. Scott Wiener also spoke out, showing sympathy for those who oppose Christian conservatives like Kirk. He attempted to mitigate his comments by stating that Kirk “defied his own death,” while again failing to provide specific examples of dehumanization.
