Vance Commemorates Kirk on “The Charlie Kirk Show”

On September 15, Vice President J.D. Vance presented a special episode of the White House’s “The Charlie Kirk Show,” following the assassination of Turning Point USA founder, Charlie Kirk, the previous week.

During the episode, Vance spoke with Stephen Miller, the Vice Chief of Staff. They discussed the Trump administration’s intentions to confront what Miller described as a “massive domestic terrorist movement” linked to the left that allegedly led to Kirk’s targeted murder.

“We’ll channel our outrage against the coordinated campaign that caused this assassination and dismantle the terrorist networks involved,” Miller asserted.

The administration plans to address “organized DOXXING campaigns, riots, street violence, dehumanization efforts, and slander,” which they claim incite actual violence through “trigger-designed messaging.” Miller emphasized, “This is a significant domestic terrorist movement, and, as God is my witness, we will utilize every resource at our disposal to uncover, disrupt, dismantle, and eliminate these networks, making America safer for everyone—in Charlie’s name.”

Matthew Peterson’s media editor for Flames invited Kyle Sideller, a director and senior analyst from the Security Policy Center, to discuss the need to address violence from domestic terrorist groups, particularly ANTIFA.

Sideller raised concerns about rising political violence since the peak of the Black Lives Matter movement, suggesting the administration is “on the right track” following Miller’s statements.

He noted, “The real challenge will be to align federal bureaucracy with the necessary actions, particularly acknowledging the existence of left-wing extremism within these structures.” Currently, the categories for “anti-government and anti-authority violent extremists” are too broad, encompassing various groups—from left-wing anarchists to radical survivalists in isolated areas.

This breadth of classification can lead to inconsistent enforcement by bureaucracies, creating challenges when determining which threats deserve priority. Additionally, left-wing extremism often fragments into specific groups, like pro-abortion or environmental activists, which, as Sideller pointed out, often overlap in membership. For example, leftist activist Cara Walsh is involved in numerous causes, from Palestinian activism to environmental protests.

He suggested that by recognizing left-wing violent extremism as a cohesive category—encompassing all forms, including anarchists, Marxists, and violent socialists—the government could more effectively address these threats. If comprehensive categories for left-wing extremism were established, it might open the door to global designations against various anti-fascist movements.

Sideller believes that designating ANTIFA groups as foreign terrorist organizations initially could clear the way for more targeted actions against their domestic counterparts, making the process quicker and more effective.
