Emotional moments and honors: Glenn Beck leads “The Charlie Kirk Show” using Rush Limbaugh’s iconic microphone

After the heartbreaking loss of Charlie Kirk, Turning Point USA and the producers of “The Charlie Kirk Show” have put together a lineup of guest hosts to pay tribute to his enduring influence. Among those who have stepped up are Vice President J.D. Vance, Daily Wire co-founder Ben Shapiro, and Jack Posobiec, Human Events’ senior editor. Today, Glenn Beck, co-founder of Blaze Media and a long-time friend of Charlie, had the honor of taking the helm as the latest host.

“Sitting in the studio next to his chair is more emotional than I could have imagined,” Glenn shared, visibly shaken.

He reminisces about their first encounter when Charlie was just 17. “He was exceptional—very well-read and articulate,” Beck recalled.

Charlie had expressed a desire to emulate Glenn, seeing him as a key figure in broadcasting history.

As part of his tribute to Charlie, who had risen to become a prominent voice in broadcasting, Glenn showcased the golden microphone once owned by Rush Limbaugh, a gesture that carries significant meaning. This microphone was gifted by Rush’s wife after his passing in 2021, and Glenn placed it next to Charlie’s microphone.

Glenn noted how Charlie had a unique approach, blending pastoral care with political organization. “Charlie wasn’t just a broadcaster; he was a thinker and a compassionate friend,” he reflected.

In Glenn’s view, Charlie surpassed even the legendary Rush Limbaugh in impact.

Joining Glenn on the show was Andrew Corvette, a spokesperson for Turning Point USA. Andrew recounted how, as a student, he was inspired by a speech Glenn delivered at a rally and how he believes the next great leader might have been in that crowd.

At only 31 years old, Charlie was poised to fulfill Glenn’s early predictions about him. “I saw his passion and the groundwork he laid, and it’s clear he had the potential for great leadership,” Glenn remarked. “He would have made a remarkable president.” In fact, Glenn suggested that filling the void left by Charlie would require a team of six of the best communicators.

Andrew also mentioned Charlie’s insistence that he was content in his role, often encouraging others to aspire to leadership instead.

He highlighted that Charlie was not only a savvy communicator but also a dedicated student of classic ideas, deeply sincere in his beliefs. Just weeks before he passed, Charlie had sent Andrew a list of virtues, emphasizing the importance of striving for the higher ideals of politics and philosophy.

“Charlie was positioned by God to unite people,” Andrew reflected.
