Disney Pulls “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Indefinitely
Disney has made a significant announcement regarding “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” The company confirmed to Fox News Digital that the show will be on hold indefinitely.
A spokesperson from Disney stated that “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” will not air for the foreseeable future. This move follows an announcement from Nexstar Media Group, which operates numerous television stations and plans to pre-empt Kimmel’s show on ABC affiliates starting Wednesday. This decision is due to Kimmel’s comments surrounding the allegations connected to Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old accused of killing Charlie Kirk.
The spokesperson expressed concerns over Kimmel’s remarks, suggesting that they don’t align with the respectful and constructive discourse the network aims to foster at such a critical time in national politics. They emphasized that it wasn’t in the public interest to continue airing Kimmel’s show given the current climate.
Kimmel had recently suggested that the circumstances surrounding Kirk’s death were being manipulated for political gain by certain groups. He criticized the handling of the situation, claiming it represented “a new low,” reflecting the division in political discourse.
Meanwhile, FCC Chairman Brendan Kerr has warned that if Disney does not manage this controversy, there may be repercussions for the network.
