Dan Le Batard Criticizes Bob Iger of Disney for Yielding to Trump Regarding Kimmel's Suspension

Controversy Surrounds Jimmy Kimmel’s Suspension

Sportstalk radio host Dan Le Batard has pointed fingers at Disney CEO Bob Iger regarding the suspension of late-night host Jimmy Kimmel on Wednesday.

According to reports, ABC, Disney, and local affiliate Nexstar have decided to take Kimmel’s show “off the air” after he implied that the shooter of conservative activist Charlie Kirk might have ties to MAGA, despite evidence showing he was affected by left-leaning influences. Nexstar criticized Kimmel’s remarks as “aggressive and insensitive” during a crucial phase of national political discussion, expressing a desire to foster “respectful, constructive dialogue.”

Le Batard, who gained popularity during his time at ESPN in the mid-2000s, condemned Iger for what he described as “co-illness” when faced with the Trump administration.

“Seeing Bob Iger bend the knee again, especially with Trump in the picture—not the first time, mind you. It’s like, once more, he’s forced into a corner, with the bully continuing to push him around,” he remarked.

He elaborated on his views, mentioning that Kimmel’s situation is indicative of the struggles faced by the media, stating, “Kimmel doesn’t have the backing that powerful entities like Disney do. The corporate media has its own interests tangled up, and even Iger seems unable to resist these pressures caused by financial conflicts.”

Le Batard added, “To see Iger bow down like this, it just reinforces that the bully mentality prevails.”

He’s not alone in his dismay. Former SportsCenter host Keith Olbermann also reacted sharply to Kimmel’s suspension, calling out Sinclair Broadcasting Group after they suggested he could take his grievances elsewhere.

Sinclair’s Vice President Jason Smith labeled Kimmel’s remarks as “inappropriate and deeply insensitive” during this pivotal time for the nation. He stated, “We believe broadcasters have a duty to promote respectful dialogue within communities. This incident emphasizes the urgent need for the FCC to implement regulatory measures to manage the influence of large networks over local broadcasters.”
