On the final day of the festival, a tragic scene unfolded when 37-year-old Vadim Kruglov was found dead, having suffered a fatal stab wound to the neck.
New information has emerged regarding the circumstances of Kruglov’s death.
Images released by the Pershing County Sheriff’s Office show a knife that they believe may be related to the case. Authorities have indicated that it is not the exact weapon used in the murder.
Investigators noted that Kruglov died from a single stab wound. Despite the ongoing inquiry, the responsible individual has not been apprehended, even though the police have received numerous tips.
Originally from Omsk in Siberia, Kruglov had arrived at Burning Man, Nevada, on August 24. He reportedly did not make contact with anyone after a certain point, as his friend Sofia Shechelbakova recounted, describing how his belongings remained at their campsite.
Emergency services were alerted when a festival-goer found Kruglov lying in a pool of blood. An unusual wooden sculpture at the festival site was also noted to be consuming flames.
Local officials, alongside representatives from the Bureau of Land Management and Burning Man’s own rangers, established a perimeter and questioned festival attendees about the incident.
Authorities confirmed Kruglov’s identity through fingerprint analysis conducted by the Washoe Medical Examiner’s Office.
In an emotional response, Igor Kurglov, Vadim’s father, expressed his grief over his son’s untimely death. He mentioned his son’s deep sense of justice and indicated that he believed similar injustices may have led to this tragic event.
Igor emphasized his desire for justice, wishing for those responsible to face the consequences of their actions.
The Burning Man project has pledged to support the ongoing investigation, underscoring their commitment to helping law enforcement bring the perpetrator to justice.
