Cowboys Take on Bears This Sunday

The Dallas Cowboys are set to face the Chicago Bears this Sunday in Fox’s “America Game of the Week.” The Bears are still in search of their first win of the season, while the Cowboys aim for their second straight victory.

Adding to the excitement, Tom Brady, who serves as the lead analyst for NFL coverage at Fox, will join play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt in the broadcast booth. As the game draws closer, Brady reflected on one of his more memorable moments during his NFL career, recalling the last time he played at the historic Soldier Field.

Brady, who played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020, humorously mentioned that he thought it was a crucial third down during that game.

“You know, sometimes I ruin things,” he said while watching a replay of his mistake. “And I did that day.”

At the time, the Bucs were trailing the Bears, aiming to score and get into field goal range. After an incomplete pass to Cameron Brate, Brady stayed on the field and raised four fingers—an indication that they had another chance to secure a vital yard.

“It broke on the third down,” he joked, adding, “What’s your next play? Fourth down? I thought there was no issue with Cambrate; what happened on that third down?”

Although the Bucs didn’t return to Chicago for a game during Brady’s next season, he admitted feeling unsatisfied with that moment, even years later.

“I couldn’t believe I had forgotten,” he said. “I think I actually recorded the ball. It’s a bad mistake for a quarterback. I know that’s true.”

He humorously suggested, “If they gave us a fifth down, I probably would have converted and moved the sticks.”

Regardless of that slip-up, Brady’s first season with the Buccaneers turned out to be a triumph, culminating in him securing the Vince Lombardi Trophy for the seventh time, leading the team to victory in Super Bowl LV.

The Cowboys vs. Bears game kicks off on September 21st at 4:25 PM on Fox.
