Dolphins Struggle to Overcome Patriots and Bills
Mike McDaniel, the head coach of the Dolphins, offered his take on the team’s recent loss to the Patriots, resulting in a tough start for Miami at 0-2.
“To win a game, you need to win the game; don’t lose it. That’s what leads to a loss,” he noted, emphasizing a straightforward yet profound point. This sentiment echoed again during Thursday’s match in Orchard Park, New York.
The Dolphins found themselves in familiar territory, stumbling in Buffalo with a 31-21 loss. The turning point came when Tua Tagovailoa threw an interception late in the fourth quarter, just moments after the team encountered a penalty with their kicker.
With Miami trailing by seven and just over three minutes left on the clock, they managed to reach the Buffalo 27-yard line. On a second-and-six, Tagovailoa aimed a short pass to Jalen Waddle but was intercepted by linebacker Terrell Bernard.
This misstep wasn’t even the first of the quarter for Miami. They had forced a punt with 10:20 remaining, but then mistakenly incurred a 15-yard penalty when Zach Sheiler collided with punter Cameron Johnston, giving Buffalo a fresh set of downs.
Buffalo took full advantage of this opportunity.
After just five plays, quarterback Josh Allen connected with Halil Shaquil for a touchdown, extending the lead. The Dolphins are set to host the Jets in hopes of turning their season around on September 29th.
