House Passes Resolution Remembering Charlie Kirk
The House has passed a resolution in memory of Charlie Kirk, acknowledging his impact and condemning his tragic assassination. This resolution received bipartisan backing; however, many Democrats seemed hesitant to formally recognize Kirk.
The resolution passed with a vote of 310-58, where 95 Democrats joined 210 Republicans to honor the conservative activist. Still, 38 Democrats opposed, 22 did not vote, and 58 were against the resolution.
“The Democrats are clearly morally bankrupt, with so many lacking a sense of decency,” a Republican member remarked.
Additionally, the House unanimously passed a separate resolution denouncing political violence in light of the assassination of Minnesota Rep. Melissa Hortman, a Democrat, who was tragically shot at her home in June. This shows a certain unity among the members when it comes to condemning attacks on their own.
Interestingly, some prominent Democratic figures, including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar, did not formally condemn Kirk’s assassination despite the solidarity expressed for their fellow Democrat.

Meanwhile, a similar resolution received unanimous approval in the Senate. House Republicans pointed fingers at the “morally bankrupt” Democrats for failing to condemn Kirk’s murder. “Their silence speaks volumes,” noted Claudia Tenney, a Republican from New York. “Americans won’t forget this.”
Another Republican, Tom Emmer, voiced his frustration, stating that many Democrats seem to have lost a sense of good judgment. His words were pointed and quite critical.
