HBO Max to Air Series on October 7 Attack on Israel

HBO Max is set to release a limited series titled One Day in October, which depicts the tragic events of the October 7 attack in Israel. This series aims to connect viewers to the horrifying experiences through actual accounts and footage from Hamas terrorists. It’s scheduled to debut on the same date to mark the attack’s anniversary.

The show’s producers expressed their intention to present “seven compelling and artistically intertwined stories of love, bravery, sacrifice, and survival.” They mentioned that each episode will highlight the profound emotional impacts of the day, from shattered families to moments of hope amid unimaginable sorrow.

Fernando Szew, president of Fox Entertainment Studios, emphasized that the project was approached with sensitivity and earnestness. He noted how deeply the events of that day affected everyone involved and reaffirmed a commitment to honoring the victims and survivors.

The series is a collaboration between the New York-based production company Sparks Go, Israeli Zoa Films, Fox Entertainment Studios, and Yes TV. Daniel Finkelman, founder of Sparks, remarked that film and TV serve as more than just entertainment; they reflect the stories of everyday people facing extraordinary circumstances. He hopes the series will inspire meaningful conversations about humanity.

Recently, there has been a wave of pledges from Hollywood figures to boycott Israel’s film industry in light of the ongoing war in Gaza. Reports indicate that many within the film community across Europe, the UK, and the US have backed a pledge initiated by a group known as Palestinian Film Workers (FWFP).

This group is assessing accusations against the Israeli film industry, labeling it as “genocide” in Gaza and criticizing collaborations with the Israeli government. Notable individuals who have signed the pledge include filmmakers and actors like Yorgos Lanthimos, Ava DuVernay, and Adam McKay, among others.
