Actress Candice Cameron Bure describes her faith as a “guiding light,” influencing her desire to give back to the community. Engaging with various charities throughout her acting career, Bure recently shared her thoughts with Fox News Digital about how her Christian upbringing motivates her to assist those in need. She has just returned from the Dominican Republic, where she collaborated with a wheelchair mission aimed at helping people gain mobility.
“The Bible encourages us to care for widows and orphans, among others. It’s a call we all should heed,” the actress, who is 49 years old, said in her interview. “My faith undoubtedly influences my decisions.” She emphasized the importance of helping others, stating, “Living out our Christian values means being there for those who are struggling. I truly think that the joy of witnessing someone’s life change—providing them with hope, showing them their worth—it’s incredibly fulfilling.”
Bure expressed that working with organizations dedicated to helping others is profoundly significant. She became acquainted with the Free Wheelchair Mission after hosting a successful event for the organization. The experiences shared at that gathering had a lasting impact on her.
On her recent four-day trip with the mission, Bure visited isolated areas where residents lacked basic services. “It was an eye-opening experience,” she said about witnessing firsthand the challenges faced by those without mobility options. “Many of them live in harsh conditions, lacking running water or electricity, and they often feel confined to isolation. Seeing this made me appreciate the joy I could bring to someone’s life.”
“It’s really transformative, both for them and myself,” she added. “Providing a wheelchair can uplift an entire family, and it’s moving to witness that change.” She traveled alongside Nuka Hart, the CEO of the Free Wheelchair Mission, who noted the profound effects that mobility can have on individuals and their communities. “One wheelchair can truly change lives,” Hart commented. “For instance, children who previously couldn’t attend school can now get there. Accessible mobility transforms not just one life but the entire household.”
Bure has always embraced her faith publicly, sharing how God appears during her most challenging times. “I often find myself surprised by how frequently he shows up, often in unexpected ways,” she reflected. “What I’ve come to understand is that he’s always present, especially when I call on him during difficult moments.”
Bure’s commitment to her faith and charitable work offers a glimpse into her values. Through her initiatives, she hopes to inspire others to also extend a helping hand.
