Isaiah Rodgers sets a new NFL record in the Vikings' 48-10 victory against the Bengals

Vikings Secure Dominant Win Against Bengals

On Sunday afternoon, the Minnesota Vikings showcased an impressive defensive performance against the Cincinnati Bengals, featuring cornerback Isaiah Rogers, who had a record-setting game.

Rogers made history as the first player ever in the NFL to score both a pick-six and return a fumble for a touchdown in the same game. Remarkably, he accomplished all of this in the first half, contributing to a significant victory as the Vikings improved to a 2-1 record this season.

To add a bit of excitement, it’s worth noting that Rogers’ achievements occurred rather surprisingly, as they unfolded rapidly within the game’s early moments.

Acquired by the Vikings as a free agent during the offseason, Rogers took on Jake Browning, likely the Bengals’ starting quarterback, due to Joe Burrow needing surgery. In one notable play, safety Harrison Smith caused a turnover, setting the stage for Rogers. He intercepted the ball and raced 87 yards down the sideline, scoring six points for his team.

Then, just a bit later in the second quarter, Rogers pulled off another impressive play. After tracking down tight end Noah Fant, he managed to punch the football from his hands and quickly recovered it himself, sprinting 66 yards for his second touchdown of the game.

Before the halftime break, he also added another forced fumble to his impressive stat line. Plus, he had a critical moment where he prevented a touchdown while covering Tee Higgins closely.

Stepping into the quarterback role, Carson Wentz filled in for the injured JJ McCarthy. Wentz finished the game completing 14 out of 20 passes for 173 yards and, crucially, two touchdown passes—targeting tight ends TJ Hockenson and Josh Oliver, each of whom made a significant contribution in the victory.

The Vikings headed into the locker room leading 34-3 at halftime, and they managed to score a few more points in the second half.

This may have been the Bengals’ first loss this season, but with Burrow’s situation, it’s a bit concerning as Browning made his debut as the team’s first-choice quarterback.
