Prosecutors Wrap Up Case in Ryan Rouse’s Attempted Assassination Trial

The federal trial of Ryan Rouse, who is accused of trying to assassinate former President Donald Trump at the West Palm Beach Golf Club in 2024, is progressing. On Friday, the final witness for the prosecution, FBI supervisor special agent Kimberly McGreevey, presented evidence involving phone records, license plate data, banking transactions, and surveillance footage. This evidence supposedly connects Rouse to Trump’s movements in the weeks leading up to the alleged attempt.

McGreevey detailed that Rouse’s main location from August 14 to September 15, 2024, was a truck stop in South Bay, Florida. Evidence showed he used cash for overnight parking, which was supported by a receipt. Body camera footage from a welfare check at the truck stop revealed Rouse in madras shorts, matching those found in recordings at the airport during Trump’s departure on September 7.

Additionally, there was considerable online activity linked to Rouse. His mobile phone records included searches related to Trump’s campaign schedules, rally tickets, golf properties, and even real-time airport feeds. One notable text exchange displayed an aerial image of Trump’s plane, with a contact named Vladmir asking, “Palm Beach, Yours?” Rouse replied, “Trump’s plane. He gets on and off every day.”

Financial records illustrated significant deposits and transfers through an account associated with Rouse’s daughter, Sara, some of which were sent to Rouse. Text messages and PayPal transactions reflected these exchanges, highlighting a message he sent to his son Oran on March 29, 2024, asking for money in West Union.

As prosecutors concluded their case on Friday, they had called numerous witnesses, including Secret Service agents and FBI specialists. The defense is set to begin presenting its case on Monday and will likely feature firearms experts and character witnesses.
