Howard Stern criticizes ABC and Disney for putting Jimmy Kimmel's show on hold.

Radio host Howard Stern spoke out on Monday against ABC and Disney for suspending Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show. He expressed concern about government interference in the media, saying it’s a troubling sign for the country. “I should know,” he added. Stern also mentioned that he contacted Kimmel to check on him personally.

He went on to say, “It might sound silly, but this morning I decided to cancel my Disney+ subscription. I want to show that I’m not happy with how they’re handling Jimmy.” Stern’s comments resonate with many who feel similarly.

Kimmel’s indefinite suspension comes after he criticized some political maneuvers relating to a recent incident involving a suspect connected to a shooting, claiming it was an effort to link a leftist ideology to the event inappropriately.

Former ABC host Bill Maher shared his support for Kimmel, calling out the network’s stance as one of “Always Be Cave.” Meanwhile, MSNBC host Chris Hayes condemned the suspension, arguing that it exemplifies a broader campaign against free speech initiated by Donald Trump.

Amidst all this, Stern assured his listeners on September 8th that he remained with SiriusXM, despite speculation about his future there. He humorously referenced a skit from Andy Cohen, poking fun at the seriousness that sometimes pervades the media landscape.

Stern didn’t confirm whether he renewed his contract with SiriusXM, which is reportedly set to end at the close of 2025. It seems there are many thoughts circulating, not just about Kimmel, but the state of media and how it navigates its relationship with politics.
