Long Island Man Fails to Appear in Court Over Missing Couple’s Funds
A man from Long Island, accused of stealing nearly $3 million from a couple who have gone missing, did not show up in federal court on Monday.
Innie “Roy” King, 36, was supposed to answer charges of bank fraud related to the disappearance of Peyshuan Fan and his wife Jun Juan Zwan. Instead of facing a judge at the US District Court in central Islip, he was a no-show, leaving his accomplice to deal with the fallout.
“When we apprehend him, we will make arrangements for his arrest,” Judge James M. Wicks remarked.
King is facing serious charges related to draining the bank accounts of Fan and Zwan, who vanished from their home in Brookville on April 2.
Fan, 48, and Zwan, 44, had moved from China in 2022 and bought a home worth $3.8 million in cash.
Prosecutors allege that shortly after their disappearance, their bank accounts were compromised, with hundreds of thousands of dollars withdrawn or transferred elsewhere between July and August.
Criminal charges indicate that both victims were added to WU accounts and labeled as having “co-operative rights of life and joint rights of life.”
CCTV footage from two Queens banks captured WU during several transactions linked to the stolen funds.
Wu was apprehended in Texas earlier this month and has remained in federal immigration custody before a court appearance on Long Island.
King was arrested in California but was released on bail while awaiting his court date. His lawyer, Felipe Garcia, informed the judge that he last heard from King nearly a week ago. King claimed he couldn’t board a flight to New York due to lacking an ID required for travel.
According to his lawyer, King intended to drive across the country to attend court but has not communicated since then.
Meanwhile, the investigation into the disappearance of the couple continues, although Nassau County police have yet to file any charges related to their case.
It’s worth noting that the couple had dinner with their son the night before they disappeared, just before the children went to the Catskills.
